Motorsport at Chateau Impney is back with a bang after nearly 50 years since the first sprints took place. The original course has been improved and extended for this new hill climb, which attracted some of the world's most famous classic and vintage race cars. From Morgan V-Twins to a 28-litre four-cylinder giant, rhythmic rumbles to syncopated splutters, Chateau Impney's paddock was gloriously loud and home to a great line up. No tents, no huge lorries with race teams and branded goods, just cars, drivers and mechanics. This is racing as it was, racing as it should be - pure, untainted and unrestrained. Probably one of the highlights of the event was the 28-litre engined Beast of Turin (pictured below), a pre-war racer with some serious attitude. When you first set eyes on the Beast you may think, "Where are the exhaust pipes", the Beast s response would simply be "Who needs them?" It spits foot-long flames straight out the side and its outrageously simple square shape is born out of the necessity to house that huge engine.
