Lost and Found: The Mog that Endured

In 1978 when Morris Stapleton Ltd, London Morgan Agents, were actively involved in the Production Sports Car Championship races with a Plus 8, they were approached by an American who was keen to have them build and prepare a team of two Plus 8s to enter into the Sebring 12 Hours. The proposal put to Stapleton Ltd was to build one car which they would test and campaign in 1979 and then to build another to the tested final specification before taking them both to the USA. The factory was asked to build the first one with various modifications and this was delivered to Stapleton Ltd without an engine (which Stapleton installed after delivery) in January 1979. Circumstances made it so that this is the only factory-made Group 4 racing Plus 8.
