Serco has recently opened its newly upgraded Rail Vehicle Engineering Centre at Derby's RTC Business Park - the home maintenance depot for Network Rail's fleet of infrastructure monitoring and rail grinding trains. The Centre is able to provide a wide range of competencies across a variety of vehicle types, including coaching stock, DMUs, HST sets and on-track machines, and is equipped with heavy lifting equipment to allow all levels of maintenance and overhaul to be undertaken. Serco has a dedicated rolling stock project team with extensive experience in vehicle modifications (substantiation). The scope of work covers minor alterations on a simple individual vehicle system to a full upgrade and refurbishment of a vehicle fleet.
