The characterization of distribution center employment is a major challenge for materials handling logistics. Last summer, the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) held a summit of leaders from the user community, as well as consultants, suppliers and academics, to talk about the future of materials handling. The issue of the dwindling labor pool in DCs and warehouses was the No. 1 concern.
