Expansive living in smaller worlds

Those of you who read the 2019 issue of Model Railroad Planning may recall Brooks Stover's article about rebuilding his S scale tributes to the Buffalo Creek & Gauley and Elk River Coal & Lumber in a smaller footprint after he and his wife downsized their home. If not, I'm sure the fine folks at Kalmbach can find a copy for you. It's a good read about how he was actually able to do some things in the smaller space that he hadn't managed to do in the more ample area. It's timely too, as downsizing is on the minds of a lot of folks these days. The possible downside to downsizing is rather obvious, so instead let's discuss the potential upside.
