RENOVATING A MYFORD SUPER 7 LATHE

In this second episode, repairs to tailstock, pulley repairs, lathe bed, back gear and cross slide are discussed. Comments are also included on Sparey's book, The Amateur's Lathe. During dismantling, the tailstock gave the first problem. After loosening the locating set screw which retains the tightening arbor in position (with its integral lever), the arbor couldn't be completely removed from the tailstock casting because the oval hole in the eyebolt had somehow become smaller in diameter than the arbor.
