NEEDLE SCALER

A "needle scaler" or perhaps more correctly a needle de-scaler, is a tool that may see only occasional use, but it can make life very much easier when you are faced with certain kinds of tedious job. As its name suggests, it is normally used for removing any unwanted coating that is tenaciously bonded on to a hard substrate. Typically, the scale will be rust, or old paint, or vitreous enamel, or the like, while the substrate will often be structural or sheet steel. Almost always, the needle scaler will be air driven, so you need a reasonable compressed air supply. As with most power tools, safety is a matter not to be taken lightly, so never use the sealer without good protection for your eyes and ears.
