VERTICAL SPINDLE ALIGNMENT TABLE

This device came about some time ago because of a problem that was encountered when checking my vertical mill. I decided to check that the alignment of the mill head was truly perpendicular to the table before starting to machine some of the parts for the Wire Eroder. To this end, I set up a dial gauge on an arm mounted in the mill spindle. This could then be rotated and the dial would then, by contacting the table, show up any deviation from the vertical. Of course it is simple to read the dial when it is facing towards you, but is not so convenient when the dial is facing away. To read from the rear, I use a small round dental style mirror. The vision however, is strictly limited.
