摘要

A problem for small lathe users is the restricted capacity of chucks and other holding devices. It makes machining large diameters especially, a problem. Problems though, are there to be solved and from time to time I have managed to machine some shapes and sizes, which looked difficult to do on my Unimat 3. I did cheat once, when I wanted to machine the body of a homemade four-jaw chuck from a large, rough, disc casting. At the time I was a part-time turner at a two men, a dog and a boy firm. Through the kindness of the boss, I became a full-time turner for a couple of days and the Harrison M300, which I worked on, made short work of the rough turning.
