Making Small Tools

Back in the days of real engineering apprenticeships, it was not uncommon, where the employer was large enough to run a dedicated apprentice training centre, for the lucky young lads to have to make a number of items of tooling. These, if well made, would serve for many years in the trade. At the Model Engineer Exhibition in September at Ascot, one exhibit brought back happy memories of that era. The stand in question was that of the Napier Power Heritage Trust, and the particular exhibit, a display of tools, photo 1 made by apprentices during their six month sojourn in the Napier training centre.
