I read Roger Trewinnard's article regarding the restoration of an Aciera milling machine in MEW 171 with great interest. It was absorbing and informative right up till the last couple of paragraphs when he unfortunately seemed to lose the plot somewhat. The article then turned into a rant about Far Eastern machinery and he stated "this mill is some 30 years old and much used, how many Far Eastern imports will last this time?". This is particularly ironic as he had just spent £949 and a lot of time and effort refurbishing his 30 year old machine because it was clapped outl I am not knocking Mr Trewinnard's project, restoring an old machine is an excellent thing to do and I am sure that his refurbished machine will give him great satisfaction. However, it is no justification for criticising all Far Eastern machine tools out of hand. I am no apologist for Far
