This tab brings up the entry screen into Slic3r which is a separate piece of software in its own right. When it slices a suitable file and translates it into g-code that the printer can use, there is an enormous amount of work involved. By way of an example, the end stop holder (photo 14) generates about 5800 lines of code. Not something many people would wish to do manually. There are numerous opportunities for making adjustment, but at this stage my suggestion would be to keep these to a minimum. Most of the default values are likely to be good enough to start with. Photograph 12 shows the entry screen to Slic3r version 0.8.4. (ref 4). The large grid on the left is for assembling several components on the bed into a 'plate' so they can all be printed at the same time. For this reason this particular screen appears with the 'Plater' tab selected which is the first in the row of 6 tabs (top left). Until a number of lone components have been printed successfully this is arguably best left for another day.
