As part of the Government's levelling up agenda, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is creating a second headquarters in Wolverhampton.Matt Thurstan, CFO at MHCLG explained the thinking: 'Our new second HQ in Wolverhampton is part of a wider programme to move 22,000 civil service roles out of London by 2030. Moves like ours to Wolverhampton will help provide an economic boost to the area, provide excellent careers for people from the region in the Civil Service and, bring a greater variety of voices and experiences into the Civil Service'.'Since the new office in Wolverhampton was announced in late February, MHCLG has demonstrated that it's serious about delivering. We have a new landmark office opening this year and we're on track to have at least 150 colleagues in the city by next March. Our recent apprenticeship campaign for example was a great success, and we look forward to welcoming them to great careers in the department and Civil Service'.MHCLG is also boosting its leadership cadre in the city and is currently recruiting five Deputy Directors for key policy and project delivery roles. They are also recruiting a Director of Resilience and Recovery who works with local resilience forums and leads the department's response to, and recovery from, emergencies and incidents.
