Cornwall is the place to be right now. It has just been announced that we are the first rural authority in the country to be offered a devolution deal. We are really proud to be the first, and we are the first simply because all the factors necessary came together to make it happen. Cornwall became a Unitary Council in 2009. That, alongside our one coterminous LEP for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, our one Health and Wellbeing Board, one clear geographical region and, because we took the devolution agenda seriously, coming forward with a Case for Cornwall outlining our plans, has meant we have become the first authority to receive this offer.
