MPs urged to back independent homes Bill

MPs are set to debate a Private Member's Bill tomorrow (5 September) designed to curb the Government's controversial 'bedroom tax'. The Liberal Democrat MP, Andrew George, has introduced the Affordable Homes Bill to Parliament, which, he says, would introduce significant exemptions to the spare room subsidy. The Bill also includes measures to cap the number of second homes and powers to stop developers withholding land. However, Mr George said he was concerned that his chance of success to get the Bill through could be hit by the upcoming Scottish Referendum -as many of the MPs who would have supported him are campaigning north of the border.
