Audit Bill is 'full of holes'

The Local Audit and Accountability Bill is 'full of holes' despite being three years in the making, shadow local government minister Andy Sawford has claimed. Mr Sawford said 'critical issues that are currently unclear' must be explored in the House of Commons committee stage this week. Concerns include the lack of competitiveness in the audit market, fears that some local authorities might find it hard to attract a suitable auditor and the predicted 10% increase in audit fees.
