Smith Square will tomorrow (25 May) launch eight procurement pilots designed to improve the purchase and management of goods and services across the sector. The Local Government Association's (LGA) pilot programme has been developed just as ministers are mulling over ways to improve local government's procurement practices as they seek to drive greater efficiency across the sector. In recent weeks, senior Eland House sources have told The MJ they are taking a close look at local government procurement as a potential method of freeing up scarce resources for frontline services.
