The Local Government Association (LGA) has hired St Albans DC chief executive, Daniel Goodwin, as its new director of finance and policy. Mr Goodwin will replace Stephen Jones, who is largely credited with winning back local government cash from the collapsed Icelandic banks, when he retires. His appointment completes the top team at the LGA under chief executive, Carolyn Downs. Mr Goodwin joins executive director, Michael Coughlin, and communications director, David Holdstock, to complete the team. He will take on responsibility for the policy development and local government financial strategy for the LGA. He previously worked for Wealden DC, Peterborough City Council and Brent LBC.
