Sometimes life manages to serve up surreal moments that are beyond satire. Diary's Essex correspondent was out and about last week after White Van Man let slip about a nice little earner. To get to Hanningfield, the route included Ransford Road. Then later came the sat nav saying 'Hanningfield, at the next opportunity turn left'. No chance. But Diary's dalliance into the Promised Land doesn't end there. Essex CC has 'gone Geezer' by deciding to abandon requirements limiting the size of garages in new housing developments.
