There were some 'tough sells' at the Labour conference in Liverpool last week - the party's economic credibility, the policy-light 'purple book', Ed Miliband -that sort of thing. But nobody had to work harder to sell their wares than the brave (many would say 'poor' - Ed) souls manning the exhibition stall promoting the city of Manchester at a venue perched firmly on the banks of the Mersey.
