Capita will benefit from authority's £60m contract

Council spending on outsourcing has risen by 23% in the last year, with Capita the latest in line to benefit from another local authority contract. Blackburn with Darwen Council last week named the outsourcing giant as preferred bidder for a new £60m technical services contract, which will lead to Capita delivering a variety of services, including highways and property. Under the contract, Capita will also work with the council to generate new income through existing services and assets. 'This partnership model will transform Blackburn with Darwen and drive further investment and funding into the area, as well as allowing the council to draw upon the complete breadth of expertise across Capita,' said the company's chief executive, Andy Parker.
