Power Test

BHP's rolling road operator, Ian Elliot, was in charge of putting the Minis of Surrey Hills Mini Group through their paces, on 20 April, and giving the odd tweak here and there, where possible. We often find recurring vehicle problems within clubs and this time it seemed to be ignition timing as around half the Minis were improved by a slight adjustment. There were some well tuned Minis, including two former MiniWorld cover cars: Matt Price's 1380, running Jenvey-based injection, and Ralph de la Hoyde's injected Vmax Scart supercharged Mini. We had some idea of what Matt's car would produce, from a previous Power Test day, but we were keen to see what Ralph's would achieve. Brooklands Horse Power is part of Mini Speed who also brought out one of their own Omex-injected, supercharged SPi Minis, which made for an interesting comparison to Ralph's Mini but, unfortunately, it had running issues.
