Minis on the Rec'

The enticing smell of grilling bacon welcomed early arrivals to Brighton Mini Club's annual show, Minis on the Rec', held on a scorching summer's day in West Sussex. The annual event takes place on the banks of the Adur River at Adur Recreation Ground, Shoreham-by-Sea. Minis piled in and soon there was a well-marshalled queue waiting to park up before occupants took a stroll around the show site. Show-goers saw a record number of Minis, around 200, as well as several hundred other tasty classic cars and bikes, as Brighton Mini Club continued its tradition of welcoming in other car clubs. One of the club's founders, Faron Scrivens, said, "The passion is the same as we had at our first show, back in 2006. But we never dreamt Minis on the Rec' would get this big." Brighton Mini Club has fewer than 50 members, meaning that each and every member has to put maximum effort into organising the show which this year raised more than £3,200 for charity Chestnut Tree House, the only hospice for children in Sussex.
