In the first half of 2009, scrap fiber demand has been stagnant, due to slumping domestic and global economies. OCC demand picked up slightly in March; however, markets for high grades suffered as printers were feeling the pinch of the ailing economy. Currently, many domestic containerboard mills are running through their inventories, and are requiring bulk grades, resulting in a boost in prices for these grades.
