It wasn't a try - I could see that clearly from my seat in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. But the TV referee had a poorer view. The try was awarded and the Welsh were euphoric. Never mind, I thought, retribution would come the following Tuesday when I was in Hereford to speak to the Grassland Society. Hereford is one of those places where the ancient bye laws permit you to shoot a Welshman with a bow and arrow as long as you're within the confines of the city walls.
