German Navy Programmes: Robust Capability in the 2020s Requires Prompt Action

The size of the German Navy - presently 14 large surface combatants, five corvettes and ten support vessels of different types in two Flotillas -should further grow to cope with new mission requirements in the 2020s. The same is entirely true for the navy's inventory of modern, fuel-cell submarines; two additional Type 212CD submarines may be added to the current fleet of six boats.
