Military engineers in NATO, according to two recent reports, are exploring the feasibility for fielding new advanced technology "within at least the next six to eight years" and also invest some $900 million (€807 million) to "develop and test military applications" for a variety of platforms and systems. This scheme covers a variety of means, including bridge-laying tanks, armoured engineering vehicles, unmanned systems and new sensors.
