More Ex-Dutch F-16 for Chile

Chile and the Netherlands have reached an agreement in principle concerning the sale of 16 surplus F-16AM/BM Midlife Update (MLU) fighters of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, as well as a limited support package also involving assistance for the training of approximately 75 Chilean technicians and instructors. The value of the deal has not been officially announced, but Dutch press re-rnports estimate it at around €100 million.rnThe Chilean Air Force already operates a first batch of 18 ex-Dutch F-16 MLUs, that were acquired in 2006. The aircraft of the new order will be delivered in 2010 and will re-equip the Grupo 7 squadron of Air Brigade V at Cerro Moreno AB, replacing the F-5F/F TIGER Ills that are to be withdrawn by the end of this year.
