Caroline Vandedrinck, Vice President Europe, Russia and Central Asia at Sikorsky Aircraft has been with Sikorsky for 18 months. Vandedrinck, who is originally from Belgium, has the responsibility of making sense of an important geographical area of the world that is experiencing many changes - and occasional bouts of aggression. As we go to press, the Ukraine is still being pressured by Russian loyalists (at least that is what Russia's premier Putin would have the world believe). The reaction to the virtual annexation of the Crimea caught NATO's main members off-guard, and caused considerable concern among those who were once under Moscow's watchful eye in the times of the old Soviet Union. "Following events in the Ukraine, there seems to be a need for the central European countries to take their defence spending much more seriously. Those governments have seen these actions as a wake-up call," commented Vandedrinck.
