The RMN (Royal Malaysian Navy) has been the national main maritime security player ever since its existence. The global and regional security landscapes have changed dramatically. Consequently, the maritime security challenges faced by our countries are more complex and place a greater demand on our Navy's limited resources. Since its inception 80 years ago, the RMN has evolved from a coastal keeper to a modern naval force, an evolution not only growing in size, but in terms of assets, establishments and dimensions of operations which we should be proud of. Regardless of the complex maritime security environment, the RMN has performed its duty and served the nation with distinction in every spectrum of defence they were involved in. Given the complex challenges and fast changing maritime security environment, the RMN needs to address these challenges by implementing the appropriate Navigation Plan and maintaining continuous Position Report to stay on track in order to safely and successfully sail to the next port of call as stipulated in the Sailing Directions.
