Dismounted Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Technology

Increasing levels of multi-national cooperation, in both training and operational environments, has resulted in more demand for interoperability between partner nations, particularly with regards to deconfliction between friendly and enemy forces. In the airborne environment, such a capability continues to be matured and is known as IFF technology. However, such technology designed for ground-based force elements has until now, remained far less advanced, and is being highlighted by this article.
