Georgian Expectations vs Reality

In late September 2015, Tina Khidasheli, Georgian Minister of Defence, in an interview with BBC Hardtalk, said: "What is happening in Georgia is not the growth of pro-Russian sentiments but rather an increasing disillusion [author's bold script] with Europe and NATO." This is the point I wish to emphasise. The disillusion with NATO in particular occurred in Georgia over the last two to three years. At every NATO summit, NATO's affirmative Open Door Policy regarding Georgia failed to be implemented and the door remained shut. The promised Membership Action Plan (MAP) for Georgia that was discussed at the Bucharest Summit in 2008, also failed to be implemented.
