Staging Cancer

Cancer staging is important andrnindicates how cancer might have spread. Information from an initial diagnosis, such as biopsy results, is used in staging. Additional radiology procedures such as CT scans, MRIs, or bone scans (tracking an injected radionuclide to see if cancer has spread to a bone) might be needed. Information from blood tests also is used, as well as procedures specific to the type of cancer that has been diagnosed.
