A benign tumor is not cancer and will not spread to other parts of the body.rnThere are many types of benign tumors. Some, such as uterine fibroids, are muscular tissue. Others are fatty tissue. An abscess can appear as a tumor. Benign tumors are rarely dangerous, though sometimes they can grow and cause pressure or damage to surrounding tissue. For example, a benign tumor of the brain can become very serious.
