The James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa, Fla., is one of the busiest VA medical centers in the country. The medical center is home to one of the VA's polytrauma units, which treat servicemembers who have sustained multiple and devastating wounds - often while serving in the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan. Servicemembers who come to the hospital, which specializes in treating spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, often spend weeks or even months undergoing treatment for their injuries.
