摘要

Three of the articles in this edition of Medicine, Conflict & Survival are about attacks on healthcare in conflict (AHCC): attacks on health workers, the health centres and hospitals where they work and the ambulances they travel in. This reflects the prominence of this issue in recent years and the urgent need to do something about it. Since receiving these articles Save the Children reported that a hospital they supported in Yemen had been bombed on March 26 2019 leading to the deaths of three adults and five children, including a health workers and a security guard; the pharmacy and ambulance were also badly damaged (Save the Children Fund 2019a). The report describes the everyday scene minutes before the tragedy that readers of Medicine, Conflict & Survival will recognise from many countries: The hospital had been open for only half an hour and many patients and staff were arriving on a busy morning.' (Save the Children Fund 2019b). You can hear the chatter, smell the morning sun on the walls of the clinic.
