If you believe in the theory of an infinite number of parallel universes, then somewhere there is a Planet Earth which is not quite perfect enough to have no war, but where the decision to go to war has to be the only ethically available option, and soldiers are deployed who are so well versed in values and ethical theory that they would lay down their life rather than cause an ethically dubious casualty, even if this meant ignoring orders - which, of course, they would never have to do as the orders and mission objectives would never be ethically ambiguous, and in any case the work that the military socioanthropological division has done in advance has allowed pinpoint strikes on the correct targets, with the local population pleased with the soldiers' efforts.
