How Physicians for Social Responsibility - Finland has managed to grow and be active for over 35 years

Physicians for Social Responsibility - Finland (PSR) was founded in 1982 as part of the medical campaign against nuclear weapons. From the beginning PSR decided to have a broad agenda which included developmental and environmental issues. In the years since 1982 PSR's activities have been diverse and the main focus of the organisation has varied. New issues have also arisen, such as working for undocumented migrants and refugees. Nuclear weapons have consistently kept their central role in PSR's work, however having many other fields of interest has enabled PSR to be active and visible during years when nuclear weapons did not attract the interest of many people. Today PSR is a well-known medical association in Finland with a voice that is heard both within the medical profession and in civil society.
