The results of a meteorological analysis of the IEZ-P instrument when used to measure surface electric charge density are presented. It is shown that the instrument has a argree measurement error and is not, in Principe, suitable for measuring surface electric charge density. It is recommended that one should use a method of measuring the electrostatic field strength above the charged surface with a subsequent recalculation of the surface electric charge density.
