Q:Vapor space corrosion has been a problem with our 30-m diameter fixed-roof crude storage tanks. We are looking at internally coating the first meter of the wall and base with coal tar epoxy. After eight years of service, these tanks have suffered vapor phase corrosion on the underside of the roof even though this area was purged with sweet gas during the past four years. I would be interested in reliable solutions that can be used to prevent this form of corrosion.
