A Methodology for Risk-Ranking Pipelines for Susceptibility to Corrosion

A methodology has been developed by the author to risk-rank upstream oil and gas pipelines with respect to internal and external corrosion susceptibility. It is usually feasible to quantify the corrosion risk into high, medium, and low risk categories. The methodology involves examining the failure and inspection history of a defined field of operations and comparing this information with various parameters that are known to contribute to corrosion.
