摘要

The present study highlights the efficient removal of fluoride by low cost, Al modified pumice stone. The modified Al-pumice is characterized by SEM, XRD and FTIR. The effect of various parameters like pH, contact time, amount of adsorbent, initial fluoride concentration and interfering anions for removal of fluoride in water was studied and achieved 80% of adsorption of fluoride on 3.5 wt% Al-modified pumice at 3 g/L and pH = 7 in 60 minutes. Thus pumice is suitable, low cost adsorbent used for water purification.
