A Special Issue on Advanced Materials Science and Engineering

摘要

Science and technology development in advanced materials is an important foundation for the progress of human civilization. In recent years, advanced materials have been endowing more and more hopes to strongly stimulate our world economy, researchers are thus facing a great challenge to reshape their research philosophy that can bring more chances to the community. As shown in Figure 1, the traditional materials science tetrahedron emphasizes the interdisciplinary research on materials structure, processing, properties and performance. In Figure 2, we can find that the systems materials engineering triangle illustrates the importance of system-level planning of the research efforts starting from individual components and followed by interface optimization. The goal of this special issue is to present the latest developments and research solutions of advances in advanced materials including their synthesis engineering, structural chemistry and physics, properties and performances, as well as theoretical modeling of the functionalities and mechanisms.
