Nondestructive testing (NDT) is as vital in the theme park industry as it is in national defense. Keeping "The Happiest Place on Earth" safely in operation involves a great deal more than meets the guest's eye. "Magnetic particle and dye penetrant testing at Disneyland complement visual inspection as part of a total quality assurance program to verify repairs and facilitate equipment upgrades," says supervisor Jim Ward. "The variety of applications ranges from inspecting a harness holding Tinkerbell atop the Matterhorn to the chassis for Big Thunder Mountain trains."
