Moran gets advanced firefighting tug

Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc., East Boothbay, Maine, recently delivered Kaye E. Moran, a 92 ft x 32 ft, 5,100 hp Z-drive firefighting tug, to the Moran Towing Corp., New Canaan, Conn. The vessel will to provide ship-assist services for LNG tankers at the Cove Point LNG terminal south of Baltimore, Md., on the Chesapeake Bay. Kaye E. Moran is named in honor of Kaye Barker, the wife of Moran's vice chairman, James R. Barker. At the time of its launch in late October last year, Moran described the vessel as "the most advanced tugboat in Moran's history."
