Jacket launched for Brazil's largest fixed gas platform

The first stage of the installation of Brazil's largest fixed gas platform was carried out in late November, according to Petrobras. The steel jacket of the Mexilhao Platform (PMXL-1) was launched in the Santos Basin, some 140 kilometers off the coast of Sao Paulo. Scheduled to go on stream in 2010, Mexilhao will be capable of producing up to 15 million m~3 of gas per day-equivalent to half of the Brazil-Bolivia pipeline's capacity.
