One hundred days into his presidency, President Obama has yet to nominate a candidate to be the next Maritime Administrator. Let's hope that the process doesn't drag on too much longer. However, once a new Maritime Administrator is chosen and confirmed, I'd like to recommend to him or her that the Maersk Alabama be granted the Gallant Ship Award and that the crew members of the ship be awarded Merchant Marine Meritorious Service Medals for their actions.
