What's in store for 2011?

One of the things facing the maritime industry in 2011 will be a new Congress. Voters made sure of that on November 2, when they cleaned the House of long-standing Democratic Congressmen. We outline many of the changes in this month's Inside Washington column. How will the new, more-balanced Congress work? It is not really clear. Clearly, what would be best is if there were more bipartisan efforts in Congress. One positive sign is that the President has already stepped across the aisle to broker a deal with Republicans to extend the Bush era tax cuts and unemployment benefits. Perhaps this is a signal of future bipartisan cooperation.
