All In: Irving Shipbuilding named builder of AOPS

It's official, irving shipbuilding Inc., has been awarded the contract to build six Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) as part of Canada's National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS). Diane Finley, Canada's Minister of Public Works and Government Services, and Peter MacKay, Regional Minister of Nova Scotia made the announcement. The contract, valued at $2.3 billion, marks the start of the construction phase under the NSPS. The ships will be built at Irving Shipbuilding's Halifax shipyard.
