Two senior engineering officers employed by Italian shipping company D'Amico have admitted that they deliberately concealed their vessel's discharge of oil waste into the sea, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman. Chief Engineer of the oil tanker, the M/T Cielo di Milano, Girolamo Curatolo, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to violate the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships. Meanwhile, the ship's first assistant engineer, Danilo Maimone, pleaded guilty to conspiring to obstruct justice.
